As a common habit some Indians who do not think twice before spitting on the roads or peeing in public like to go to Singapore and Malaysia travel destination as they find these places clean and great to shop which makes it clean and attractive.
According to the ‘Travel Intentions Survey 2010’, almost 62% Indians prefer Singapore and 11% like Malaysia. As Singapore the enforcement is more stringent. The deterrent to spit and spew rubbish is highly considered. Unfortunately citizens respect other countries law and not so much their own with regards to cleanliness of public amenities.
The survey, done by Edelman India on behalf of credit card company Visa, interviewed 504 Indians with an average income of $1,138 starting from the age of 18 years and above. This is not so much of a broad sample of the population.
The survey shows Asia Pacific region as the most preferred destination followed by North America and United Kingdom (UK). “Singapore is the favorite destination for future leisure travel, followed by Malaysia, Australia and Hong Kong,” reads the survey. “And revisits to Singapore and Malaysia are largely driven by cleanliness and great shopping. They like the natural scenery, sunshine and beaches,” it says. Malaysia travel destination is a favorite for already many travelers. More than 1 million tourist visit Malaysia as a travel destination. There are abundant of cheap hotels to cater for any traveler budget and also many cheap flights to all the major cities. The government has done many promotions to encourage tourist to visit Malaysia. Plus is a fairly safe place to be.
Indian travelers like to take two international and two domestic vacations a year; of these 62% have already been to Singapore, 46% to Malaysia and 28% to Hong Kong. In spite of being to these places 63% wish to go to Singapore and 38% to Australia on their next trip. It also shows that Indians are no longer shying away from experimenting in matters of food and travel experiences. Due to the openness of the economy and improved income has given access to more tourism visit over the decade.
“Indian travelers are likely to pay extra for exotic destinations, food, convenience and new cultural experiences,” it says. Also not so careful for bargain hunting but ensuing better service and quality.
Indians who travel in groups now prefer going out with their partner. They no longer travel with their children or relatives. “Makemytrip.com and Yatra.com continue to be firm favorites for searching travel information,” it reads
